Get mo' fun out of summer at Satchmo SummerFest, a salute to New Orleans most famous son, Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong. The annual event takes place August 2-4 this year and is, as they say, "fun for the whole family."
Along with live music, there's a Jazz Mass at St. Augustine Catholic Church in the Treme, followed by a "Satchmo Salute" Second Line to Armstrong Park then down Esplanade Avenue to the festival at the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Mint.
Families with kids will enjoy the family activities on August 3 & 4 at Pops' Playhouse Powered by Entergy, inside the Mint.
There are also lots of kid-friendly food options, including 4 Cheez Mac N Cheez in a Bread Cone from the Big Cheesy and all your favorites from Plum Street Snoballs.
